The Visitors
Carlos López Tavera / Moderately Violent
A series of social riots that began in October 1766 and were put down harshly in mid-1767 took place in Pátzcuaro. The P'urhépecha population, as well as mulattoes and mestizos, rose up against the measures taken by the administration of Carlos III de Borbón, King of Spain and the Nueva España. This one-person work in progress, developed from different documents, intends to generate a link between theater and a little-known historical fact, named as the "Pátzcuaro Riots". "Los Visitadores" is a work in progress by the artist from Veracruz Carlos López Tavera.
